Woman Struck By Car Near UNC-Charlotte Entrance

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that a woman suffered personal injuries on the morning of February 22 when she was struck by a car while crossing N.C. Highway 49 at the entrance of the UNC-Charlotte campus.

The accident was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. on University City Boulevard and Broadrick Boulevard. Police said it occurred in the left southbound lane of N.C. 49 near the traffic signal.

The woman received transport to a hospital, but her condition was not made clear. It was also not immediately known if she is a student at UNCC, but the intersection in question is commonly used by students walking to the campus from apartments across the street.

The car, a silver Honda, sustained significant damage to its front end. The crash remains under investigation.
