A woman from Dubuque, Iowa has been ordered to pay nearly $50,000 in a personal injury suit filed by the man attacked by her dog.
A judge ruled Michelle Kissee to be responsible for the personal injuries sustained by Jon Gruetzmacher.
According to court records, in May of 2007, Kissee’s dog bit Gruetzmacher near his home.
According to records, Kissee never responded to the suit claiming that she would not surrender her dog for quarantine after it was loose and attacked Gruetzmacher.
Kissee was ordered by Judge Lawrence Fautsch to pay $5,000 for future physical and mental pain, $5,000 for legal fees, and nearly $40,000 in punitive damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and loss of bodily function.
