Woman Injured When Struck By Fallen Tree In Benson
On Friday, June 5, a woman sustained personal injuries after being struck by a tree that had fallen in the road in Benson.
News reports say that the woman, whose name was not released, stopped her Mercury Capri in front of the fallen oak tree on Denning Road shortly after 5 a.m.
A man who had pulled up behind the woman in a Jeep attempted to remove the tree from the roadway by using a chain connected to his vehicle.
A driver traveling in the opposite direction allegedly drove his Nissan pickup truck through the fallen tree, causing a large limb to crash through the Mercury’s windshield and strike the woman, who was standing near her vehicle. The Nissan then collided with the Jeep.
The woman received transport to WakeMed with minor injuries. No others were harmed in the crash.
Charges are said to be pending.
