A woman has filed a personal injury suit against a man and his employer after a collision involving a vehicle belonging to the company.
According to the suit filed against Michael P. Mahoney and Charles E. Mahoney Co. on April 3 by Krista Joy Cowan in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court, Cowan was westbound in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse on August 21 when Mahoney, driving a vehicle owned by Charles E. Mahoney Co. in the same direction, rear-ended her.
Cowan claims the collision caused her to suffer serious injuries to her back, incur medical expenses, and sustain great pain and mental anguish. She also claims the accident caused her to miss several days of work.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of Mahoney for failure to maintain control of his vehicle, failure to maintain a proper lookout, driving too fast for the conditions, failure to reduce speed in order to avoid a collision, and rear-ending Cowan.
Cowan seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus costs, from the two-count suit.
