Woman Files Suit Against Hospital After Fall On Melted Snow

A woman has filed suit against a hospital, alleging that she suffered personal injuries when she slipped and fell on melted snow in the entryway of the hospital.

According to the suit she filed on January 30 in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court, Sonja emergency room and medical office center number 1 on Feb. 14, 2007, when she slipped and fell on the wet floor.

Harris claims that the fall caused her to become sore, lame, disorderly, disabled, experienced pain and suffering, and suffered internal and external bodily injuries. She also claims severe pain and physical and mental anguish as well as incurred medical expenses and lost wages. 

The suit alleges negligence on the part of Memorial Hospital for failure to maintain the floor in a safe condition, allowing water from a source under its control to remain on the floor, failure to warn, and failure to install a non-slip surface or runner on the floor.

Harris seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
