A woman has filed suit against a driver she alleges collided with a school bus, causing her minor child to sustain personal injuries.
According to the suit Olga Castillo filed on May 6 in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court, her daughter, Salma Castillo, was riding in a Beaumont Independent School District bus that stopped because of traffic on May 9, 2008.
Castillo claims Leon B. Williams suddenly collided with the bus in a vehicle driven for defendants Gelco Corp. and PPG Industries due to a failure to control his speed.
Castillo claims her daughter suffered permanent bodily injuries, lost earning capacity, incurred medical expenses, and experienced physical pain and mental anguish.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of Williams for failure to maintain a proper lookout, driving too fast, failure to turn in order to avoid a collision, failure to apply his brakes in a timely manner, and failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle.
Castillo seeks damages within the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court.
