Woman Files Suit Against City And Bus Driver For Crash

A woman has filed a personal injury suit against the city of Port Arthur, Texas and one of its bus drivers, alleging that she suffered injuries in a collision at a highway intersection the bus was involved in.

According to the suit filed in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court on March 12 by Maria Escobar, she was a passenger on a Port Arthur transit bus when the collision occurred on June 25.

The suit claims that Alfred Granger, the bus’ driver, ran a red light at an intersection, and collided with a vehicle traveling along the intersecting road. The suit says Granger then lost control of the vehicle, which traveled across lanes of traffic and hit another vehicle before coming to a stop.

Escobar claims the accident caused her to incur medical costs and suffer injuries to her head, ribs, right shoulder, right ankle, back, and lung. She also claims that she experienced pain, suffering, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.

Escobar seeks actual damages, interest, costs, and other relief.
