
A woman has filed a personal injury suit against the city of Beaumont, Texas, claiming the suffered multiple fractures in a fall from training equipment.
According to the suit she filed on March 20 in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court, Letonjia Grant was undergoing a training activity on May 17, 2008 when she fell from a defective trainee device.
The suit does not provide specific information regarding the type of training Grant was involved in, nor does it specify the device she claims caused the injury.
Grant alleges that the fall caused her to suffer a fractured back, right heel, left ankle, and left wrist, incur medical costs, and experience severe physical impairment and lost earning capacity. She also claims she sustained physical pain, suffering, and disfigurement.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of the city of Beaumont for misuse of the training device, failure to properly maintain its premises, failure to inspect the premises for hazardous conditions, failure to warn, and failure to correct the hazardous condition.
Grant seeks unspecified actual and special damages.
