A woman from Mississippi has filed suit against a woman from St. Clair County, Illinois alleging that she sustained personal injuries in a collision in which the defendant was under the influence of drugs.
According to the suit she filed on January 16 in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court, on January 16, 2007, Carla Drayton was driving through an intersection with a green light when her car was struck by a vehicle driven by Jaqueline K. Obermiller, who then fled the scene.
The suit claims that initially, Obermiller fled in her vehicle, but then exited and fled on foot before being captured.
According to the suit, medical tests showed that Obermiller had the presence of opiates, cannabis, and cocaine in her blood. She pled guilty to driving under the influence.
Drayton claims that the collision caused her to suffer damage to her car in addition to physical injuries. She also claims to have incurred medical expenses and lost income.
