Woman Claims Power Line Downed By Hurricane Ike Caused Fall

One week after Southeast Texas was ravaged by Hurricane Ike, Vivian Gibbs alleges that she went for a walk and suffered personal injuries when she tripped and fell over a downed utility pole.

According to the suit Gibbs filed in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court on May 13, Entergy and the Hydaker Wheatlake Co. are at fault for ht injuries she suffered.

The suit claims that on September 25, 2008, one week after Ike caused billions of dollars worth of damage, she fell over one of thousands of utility poles that had been downed by the storm.

According to the suit, Entergy is at fault because they owned the utility pole and HWC is at fault because they performed work on it. The suit says that the pole Gibbs fell over obstructed a sidewalk.

Gibbs seeks damages for past and future medical costs, pain, mental anguish, lost wages, and impairment, plus costs.
