Woman Claims Malfunctioning Automatic Door Caused Fall

A woman has filed a personal injury suit against a grocery store, claiming an automatic door caused her to suffer injuries.

According to the suit she filed on April 2 in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court, Barbara Kronk was entering an Aldi store on February 25 when she was caused to fall by a malfunctioning automatic door that slammed into her.

Kronk claims the fall caused her to injure her back, fracture her wrist, lose large sums of money, cause her to be unable to pursue her normal occupation, and incur medical expenses exceeding $50,000.

The suit alleges negligence on the part of Aldi for failure to maintain the automatic door, failure to properly inspect the door, and failure to warn.

Kronk seeks damages in excess of $50,000.
