A woman has filed a personal injury suit against her neighbor, whom she alleges allowed natural gas to seep into his home, causing it to explode and injure her foot in her home.
According to the suit Sharon Gottschall filed against Gary Smith in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court on October 21, Smith intentionally released natural gas into his home, which caused a May 2, 2008 explosion.
Gottschall claims debris from the explosion damaged her home and caused injuries to her foot.
Gottschall alleges that due to the explosion, she was made sick, sore, lame, disordered, and disabled, sustained injuries to the soft tissues of her cervical, shoulder, and lumbar areas, incurred medical expenses, and suffered disability and pain and suffering.
Gottschall alleges negligence on the part of Smith for opening gas valves, causing and explosion, and failure to warn the neighborhood of the dangerous situation.
Gottschall seeks damages in excess of $50,000.
