A woman has filed a personal injury suit against Wal-Mart, alleging that a puddle of water that had accumulated under a leaking roof caused her to slip and fall.
According to the suit Valerie Jackson filed against Wal-Mart Stores East Inc. on June 4 in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court, she was a customer at the Wal-Mart in Port Arthur, Texas when she fell on the puddle.
Jackson claims the fall caused her to incur medical expenses and experience physical pain, suffering, and impairment, mental anguish, and fear of future disease.
The suit alleges negligence against Wal-Mart for allowing the rainwater to accumulate on the floor, failure to remove the water, failure to provide adequate lighting in the area of the water, and failure to warn Jackson of the slippery floor.
Jackson seeks unspecified damages, plus costs.
