Woman Claims Couple's Pit Bull Attacked Her

A woman has filed a personal injury suit against a couple, claiming she was injured when their pit bull attacked her.

According to the suit she filed in Illinois’ St. Clair County Circuit Court on April 2, Katie Darnell was visiting the residence of Debra K. and A.J. Mikel  on June 18, 2007, when the couple’s pit bull terrier, Rocky, bit her on the left hand and wrist.

Darnell claims that the attack was unprovoked and caused her to sustain severe and permanent personal injuries, incur medical expenses exceeding $10,000, and lose wages exceeding $2,000.

The suit alleges negligence on the part of the Mikels for knowing that they had a dog with a vicious and dangerous propensity that had shown aggressive and violent behaviors towards others on the premises, but failing to warn Darnell and failing to maintain control of the animal.

Darnell seeks damages exceeding $50,000.
