Woman Claims Butter Caused Mat To Slide Under Her At Theater

A woman has filed a personal injury suit claiming that the injuries she suffered after slipping on butter at a movie theater required her to undergo surgery.

According to the suit filed against Hollywood Theaters by Kimberly Denise Heisner on March 17 in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court, she slipped on a math beneath a butter bar after purchasing popcorn and drinks from the concession stand on November 23.

The suit says that the butter bar sits on one end of the concession stand and is for the purpose of patrons self-serving butter on their popcorn. There is a rubber floor mat beneath the bar.

According to the suit, butter apparently dripped onto the floor and got underneath the mat. Heisner went to the butter bar after purchasing concessions and the mat slipped under her, causing her to fall and become injured.

Heisner claims that in addition to the surgery, she also incurred medical costs, experienced past and future physical pain and suffering and mental anguish, and lost wages.

Heisner also claims to have lost earning capacity, past and future consortium, past and future household services, and past and future lost wages.

The suit alleges negligence on the part of Hollywood Theaters for failure to conduct a proper inspection of the floor around the area, failure to properly maintain the floor, failure to warn, failure to remove the butter on the floor in a reasonable time, and setting up the butter bar.

Heisner seeks unspecified damages.
