Woman And Dog Attacked By Pit Bull In Charlotte

A woman is recovering from the personal injuries she suffered when she and her dog were attacked by a pit bull in northeast Charlotte on May 2. The mother of two was injured and the family's Pomeranian died.

According to Francisca Flores, she was walking to the bus stop to meet her daughter when the dog suddenly appeared and attacked. She suffered significant wounds to her right arm and left buttock as she attempted to protect her dog.

Flores said no one in the Buckleigh neighborhood was around to help her.

Flores said the dog mauled her dog, taking it to a neighbor's backyard, where it was found dead. Flores went to a neighbor's home and called 911.

Flores was rushed to a hospital where she received 10 stitches and was heavily bandaged.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control quarantined the pit bull. An investigation will be conducted to determine if the dog should be put down and if the owner should be charged.
