Wilson Man Injured In Virginia Crash
A North Carolina man faces a charge of reckless driving after an early morning crash on Interstate 95 near Colonial Heights, Virginia involving personal injuries.
Virginia State Police were called to the scene just north of Exit 54 shortly after 7:30 a.m.
According to police, a 2002 International tractor-trailer was southbound on I-95 when the driver ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail before running down an embankment and overturned, causing its contents to spill out. The truck was transporting apples from New Jersey to North Carolina.
The driver, 33-year-old Wilson, North Carolina resident Richard Fitzpatrick received ambulance transport to Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital in Richmond for injuries that were considered to be serious, but non-life-threatening.
