Western N.C. Helicopter Crash Injures Pilot And Passenger
A helicopter crashed in a rugged area in western North Carolina, causing the pilot and a passenger to suffer personal injuries.
According to Black Mountain Fire Department Deputy Chief Craig Bannerman, on June 21, firefighters responded to reports of the crash, which took place just over the McDowell and Buncombe County line.
Bannerman said that the pilot and passenger both suffered injuries in the crash, but both were able to walk away from the site of the crash. They declined ambulance transport to the hospital.
McDowell County emergency crews and the North Carolina Highway Patrol had taken over the scene by that evening.
The identities of the pilot and passenger were not immediately made available.
