Well-Known Cary Bicycle Enthusiast Killed In Apex Accident

A well-known biking enthusiast from Cary died of the personal injuries he suffered in a collision with a vehicle at the South Salem Street and Apex Peakway intersection on July 11, according to police in Apex.

According to his Web site, 56-year-old Bruce Rosar has been bicycling in the Triangle area for years and served as N.C. Active Transportation Alliance director and was a founding member in several other organizations.

Capt. Ann Stephens of the Apex Police Department said that on the day of the incident, Rosar and a Honda passenger car were traveling on South Salem Street shortly before noon when the accident occurred.

Rosar received transport to WakeMed in Raleigh, but was later pronounced dead there.

The accident is still under investigation and police have yet to release the name of the car’s driver.

According to Stephens, Rosar had been traveling with other cyclists earlier that day, but when the accident occurred he was riding alone.
