Wake County Man Dies In Boat Accident
Wake County Sheriff's Office lieutenant James Newsome died in a boating accident last week in which three others were injured. According to reports, the 55-year-old Knightdale resident was boating last weekend on an 18-foot watercraft when it capsized, throwing all four occupants into the Bay.Boaters in the area pulled the boat accident victims to safety, but Newsome died after his arrival at the hospital. The other three occupants suffered minor injuries. Kenneth Evan, 57, Tilghman Hall, 70, and William Thompson, 73, of Raleigh, North Carolina survived the boating accident and were released from Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton.
The Coast Guard is continuing its investigation of the boat accident. They believe a tugboat pushing a barge was also involved in the watercraft accident, but it is still unclear why the boat capsized.
