United Healthcare Fined $750,000
United Healthcare and it’s sister companies was fined by the Insurance Commissioner of Georgia for delaying payments on thousands of healthcare claims. The Insurance Commissioner issued a directive in 1999 requiring all healthcare plans licensed in Georgia will submit their claims data to ensure they were in compliance with Georgia Insurance law requiring prompt payment of claims. After reviewing the data submitted, it was determined that United Healthcare was in violation of Georgia law.
