On the morning of December 13, a man from Union County charged in an October crash involving fatal personal injuries entered a plea of guilty.
Kevin O’Hagan pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in Union County Superior Court. He also issued an apology to the family of the victim, Daniel Herring. He faces a sentence of between 207 and 258 months.
The Monroe Police Department said that on the day of the incident, O’Hagan sped away from a traffic stop in October and collided head-on with Herring’s vehicle.
Police said that at the time, O’Hagan was driving on a revoked license and had five DWI convictions since 2000.
After the crash, police charged O’Hagan with second-degree murder, DWI, and eluding arrest. On November 27, he was also charged with a probation charge for an incident that occurred prior to the accident.
