Two Women From Tabor City Killed In Separate Crashes On Same Day

Two Tabor City women died of the personal injuries they suffered in separate automobile accidents on October 10. One took place in Columbus County and the other took place in Horry County, South Carolina.

In the S.C. crash, 63-year-old Annette Horne Jones died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., several hours after a crash that morning on S.C. 905, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

In the other crash, 18-year-old Starla Lee Vest died on October 11 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, one day after a crash on N.C. 905, according to a report from the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

In the first crash, Jones’ vehicle rear-ended another shortly after 9:30 a.m. Her vehicle then ran off the road and hit an embankment, according to a report from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. She was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital, where she died at 2:58 p.m.

In the second crash, Vest was southbound on N.C. 905 when she lost control of the vehicle, skidded sideways, and struck an embankment. Her vehicle overturned and she was ejected.
