Two Teens Injured in Wreck
Two Teens Injured in Wreck
Two teenagers from Sampson County were injured in an accident near Newton Grove Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred when Landi Gonzalez of Newton Grove drove her 1995 Chevrolet SUV through a stop sign at the intersection of Church and Rosin Hill roads.
Ms. Gonzalez’s SUV struck a 2005 Land Rover driven by 18-year-old Thelton Ray Best III of Clinton. Mr. Best’s SUV overturned several times.
Mr. Best and his passenger, 19-year-old Lewis High, Jr. of Plainview were transported to Sampson Regional Medical Center. Both men were later airlifted to UNC Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
State Highway Patrol First Sgt. D.L. Hewitt said Ms. Gonzalez was cited with driving without a driver’s license, reckless driving and failure to yield.
Mr. High is the son of former Sampson County Highway Patrol First Sgt. Louis High.
