Two Seriously Injured, Two Blowing Rock Firefighters Killed In Crash
The fire and rescue squad of Blowing Rock said that two of its firefighters died of the personal injuries they suffered in a two-vehicle crash near Marion.
According to the Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue Squad, 23-year-old Jeremy Bolick and 20-year-old Tommy Wright were returning from McDowell Fire and Rescue College when they became involved in the crash.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Bolick lost control of the Ford Mustang he was driving on wet pavement on March 21, causing his vehicle to enter the path of an oncoming vehicle.
Bolick and Wright were pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle, identified as Jeffrey and Cynthia Bassett, received hospital transport for serious injuries.
According to the NCHP, Bolick was traveling at an estimated rate of 75 mph in a 50 mph zone.
