Two Seriously Injured In Gaston County Collision

Two people sustained serious personal injuries in a head-on collision in Gaston County on the morning of November 9.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that the accident took place shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Dallas-Cherryville Highway about a half-mile outside of Dallas.

The NCHP said Tara Maurice McGirth was driving a gold Acura that collided head-on with a Honda Civic driven by a 20-year-old man. The identity of the second driver was not immediately made available.

The Acura overturned multiple times, trapping McGirth inside. She was pulled from her vehicle by firefighters. The second driver had to be cut from his vehicle.

Both drivers received air transport to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The NCHP said that McGirth was at fault. Preliminary investigations show that McGirth apparently suffered a medical emergency.

McGirth was listed in serious condition at CMC as of shortly after 1 p.m. on November 11.
