Two Killed In Collision With Sampson County Ambulance

A husband and wife died of the personal injuries they suffered in a head-on collision between their pickup truck and a Sampson County ambulance on N.C. 55 near Dunn, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

A spokesman for the NCHP said that the crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. near Green Path Road approximately four and a half miles from Dunn on February 12.

The names of the couple have yet to be released pending notification of family members.

The spokesman said that at the time of the crash, the couple was westbound in a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck that was in the eastbound lane after passing a vehicle. The truck rounded a curve and collided head-on with the eastbound ambulance, which was en route to its base station in Newton Grove.

The spokesman said the ambulance driver and passenger, whose names were unavailable, received transport to Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn.
