Two Killed In Ashe County Crash
Two men suffered fatal personal injuries on the night of January 15 in a crash just west of Jefferson. The accident is the second double-fatality accident in Ashe County during the month of January.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 43-year-old Laurel Springs resident Charles Linwood Flanagan and 39-year-old Crumpler resident Stewart Allen Miller.
According to the accident report, Flanagan was driving west on N.C. Highway 88 shortly before 11:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road to the right, reentered the road, then ran off the road to the right again before overturning and colliding with a building.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
The accident remains under investigation.
