Two Injured In Head-On Collision With Tractor-Trailer Near Carthage

According to a fire official, a woman received air transport to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after suffering personal injuries in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on the afternoon of January 3.

The woman’s name and condition had not yet been released as of the night of the crash.

According to Frank Staples, a safety officer with the Circle V Fire Department, the crash took place at approximately 12 p.m. near U.S. 15-501 and McCrimmon Road, north of Carthage. The road had to be closed for approximately three hours.

Staples said a man who was a passenger in the woman’s vehicle was also injured and received transport to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Staples said the truck’s driver was uninjured.

Staples estimated the car to have been shoved 250-300 feet from the point of impact.
