
Two half brothers suffered fatal personal injuries in a traffic accident early on the morning of March 7 and were discovered by family members nearly 12 hours later.
According to estimates the North Carolina Highway Patrol made based on information gathered by troopers, the crash occurred on Odell Owen Road in Davidson at approximately 4:30 a.m.
The driver, 22-year-old Brandon Terry Rush, and passenger, 28-year-old Darrell Eugene Everhart Jr., died after Rush ran off the road, collided with a guardrail, and collided with several trees before the vehicle finally came to a stop.
A report filed by Trooper E. Phillips said that Rush and Everhart were northbound when the vehicle crossed the center line then continued off the roadway before hitting the guardrail.
According to the report, both men were ejected from the vehicle, which the impact split into two pieces.
Phillips estimated that the vehicle was traveling at a rate of speed of 100 mph prior to the accident and 85 mph at the time of impact.
Rush and Everhart were discovered at approximated 3:30 p.m. on March 9 by their fiancés, a stepsister, and the brother of a fiancé.
