
Two Fatalities In Wreck
A grandfather and his young grandson were killed when the car they were passengers in was rear-ended on N.C. Hwy. 87 on New Years Eve.
John and Derrick McBryde of Hope Mills died on New Years Day.
Trooper Jeremy Brewington said the boy and his grandfather were passengers in the back seat of a Ford sedan traveling on Hwy. 87 near Gray's Creek. The boy's mother, Renee Evans was driving the vehicle he was traveling in. His father, Derrick J. McBryde was also a passenger in the front seat.
A Chevrolet Tahoe deriven by Robin Johnson rear-ended the vehicle.
According to the report, Johnson was said to have failed to reduce speed when Ms. Evans slowed down.
Johnson was harged with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The younger Derrick was riding in a child safety seat. The Tahoe rammed through the back seat.
