Two dogs are in the custody of Dearborn County, Indiana Animal Control after a vicious attack that caused personal injuries to a Duke Energy worker on the morning of April 5.
According to Dearborn County Sheriff's Deputy David Funch, the Duke employee was reading a meter at a residence when he was attacked by a pair of boxer breeds.
The man attempted to flee by running about 150 feet to a nearby field. But the dogs were able to chase him down.
Funch said the worker sustained "serious lacerations." He received transport to University Hospital for his injuries. His name and current medical condition were not immediately made available.
A FedEx delivery driver who witnessed the attack and ran to help was bitten on the hand and leg.
Not long after, a semi truck driver also attempted to help. He was attacked as well, but used a tire iron to fend the dogs off.
The dogs eventually retreated to their home, where they were confiscated from the owner by Animal Control.
Funch said the animals would be quarantined for 10 days and then euthanized because of the severity of the attack.
It is unclear if the owner will face charges.
