Truck Driver Charged After Wedging Vehicle Under Bridge On I-40
Police have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer that struck a guard rail on Interstate 40 and became stuck under the Jones Franklin Road bridge through rush hour on the morning of March 16.
The driver, 68-year-old Louisburg resident Bobby Lee Davis, was charged with failure to maintain lane, according to a Raleigh police accident report.
Investigators said Davis was west around 4 a.m. when he ran off the road to the left and somehow got his vehicle wedged underneath the overpass.
The cause of the accident has not been determined. He was transporting processed turkeys, which were loaded onto another truck.
