Triangle Grading and Paving Workers Suffocate in Manhole

Two workers with Triangle Grading and Paving suffocated in a manhole after being trapped Tuesday evening in Durham County.

The men, whose names were not released were working in a manhole at. U.S. Highway 70, near Leesville Road when they got trapped.

Triangle Grading and Paving is based out of Burlington.

Coworkers dialed 911, but the men were dead before the firefighters arrived. It was around 9:00 p.m. when their bodies were recovered.

The Department of Labor and the Durham County Sheriff's Office is investigating

Triangle Grading and Paving received a citation in January 2010 from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They were cited for exposing employees to work hazards while working in an eight-foot trench at Fort Bragg.
