Train Hits Vehicle Killing Brothers

According to the report, two brothers in the Explorer – a 9-year-old and 6-year-old – were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a neighor who lives near the tracks, the conductor blew the whistle prior to the impact.

She stated she will never forget what she heard as she ran toward the crossing. The mother was screaming, trying to save her two boys.

Ahmed Naji, who works at the convenience store near the tracks, said there are often close calls at the crossing.

The mother was transported to Duke Hospital for treatment.

The names of the victims were not released.

The 129 people on the Amtrak train were not injured.
