According to the Centers for Disease Control, uncooked tomatoes have been linked to the hospitalization of at least 23 people from personal injury due to illness.

The victims of the at-risk tomatoes are spread out across 16 different states. The McDonald’s chain of restaurants has already pulled tomatoes off the menu for its sandwiches and there are many other stores and restaurants which are taking the same steps. Consumers are advised to avoid Plum or Roma large round tomatoes. Other kinds of tomatoes are not affected.

No deaths have been reported from the tomatoes as of yet, and the CDC says the source of the poison is unknown.
