Shortly after having the stitches removed for the personal injuries she suffered in a previous dog bite, a 17-month-old Salina, Kansas girl was bitten again on the cheek on the night of January 11 by her family’s pet Labrador, according to Salina Animal Shelter coordinator Rose Base.
Base said that the family had released the dog to the shelter, where it is under observation.
Base said the incident is the third reported bite from the household. According to records, a 10-year-old dog previously owned by the family was released to the shelter after biting another person.
The girl received transport to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.
According to Base, the dog owner said the family obtained the dog three weeks prior to the incident. The first attack took place on January 3.
