Three-Vehicle Accident In Fayetteville Caused By Woman Running Red Light

On the morning of December 3, traffic was backed up on Country Club Drive and Rosehill Road in Fayetteville as emergency personnel dealt with a three-vehicle crash in which personal injuries were involved.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., power at the traffic light at the intersection remained out and some of the traffic lanes were closed. According to police, Rosehill Road had to be completely blocked off from Country Club Drive to Hilton Drive.

According to police, the accident was caused when a Pontiac Grand Am traveling away from Fayetteville on Rosehill Road ran a red light. It collided with a GMC pickup truck that was westbound on Country Club Drive. A Toyota sedan that was waiting in the left turn-lane on the opposite side of the intersection was then struck.

The Grand Am came to a rest on its side against a utility pole. The female driver received helicopter transport to UNC-Chapel Hill. The other drivers received ambulance transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The accident was reported just before 10:30 a.m.
