Three Men Arrested And Fourth At Large After Zebulon Trainee Officer Dragged And Run Over By Truck

Three people have been placed under arrest and police are searching for a fourth after a Zebulon police officer suffered personal injuries when he was dragged and then run over by a truck.

According to police, trainee officer C. Brandon Atwood may have sustained a broken leg in the incident.

Police say that at approximately 2 a.m. on September 18, officers responded to a call regarding people stealing propane tanks at a gas station. When they spotted the truck at a different gas station, Atwood went to the passenger’s side and stood in the doorway of the truck.

Police say Atwood became trapped when the driver, who remains at large, backed up as the passenger attempted to close the door. Atwood was dragged a distance of approximately 15-20 feet.

According to Police Chief Tim Hayworth, once Atwood freed himself, the vehicle ran over him.
