Three Hospitalized In Lenoir Crash Involving Dump Truck

Three people were taken to the hospital on the afternoon of October 7 for the personal injuries they sustained in a crash in Lenoir.

According to North Carolina state troopers, the driver of a pickup truck crossed the center line on Cheraw Road shortly before 1 p.m. and collided head-on with a large dump truck. The dump truck’s driver tried to avoid a collision, but was unable.

The three occupants of the truck became trapped inside and emergency crews had to cut off the doors to extract them. The 19-year-old driver and a passenger received air transport to a hospital after the collision. Another passenger received ambulance transport to the hospital.

The dump truck’s driver was unharmed.

Troopers say the cause of the crash is unclear, but they don’t believe speed to have been a factor. They said the dump truck’s weight contributed to the strong force of the collision.
