Teenager Receives Ticket For Rear-Ending Trooper

Teenager Receives Ticket For Rear-Ending Trooper

Andrew Street, a 16-year-old driver of Sanford surprised Highway Patrol Officer B.J. Holder last Friday afternoon by rear-ending his patrol car.

Trooper Holder was stopped at the intersection of Doc’s Road and N.C. 27 in western Harnett County when the teen approached him from behind.

Street was traveling northbound on Doc’s Road in the Barbecue Township. As Street came over the hill, he was unable to stop and rear-ended the patrol car.

After running into the cruiser, Street’s vehicle then hit a second vehicle stopped at the intersection near Western Harnett Middle School.

Olivia Huntington, of Lillington was waiting to turn left onto N.C. 27 when Street rammed into the rear of her vehicle as well.

According to the report filed by Sgt. Vince Terry, Street was charged with failure to reduce speed. The weather may have contributed with heavy rains in the area.

Trooper Holder’s cruiser sustained extensive damage and was considered a total loss.
