Teenage Brothers Injured In Johnston County Crash

On the evening of September 17, two teenage brothers suffered personal injuries after their pickup truck ran off the road and through a creek before overturning in Johnston County.

North Carolina State Troopers say that a 17-year-old was driving the vehicle and his 13-year-old brother was a passenger in the truck, in which they were traveling along Bizzell Grove Church road shortly after 8:30 p.m.

The pickup was rounding a curve when it ran off the road. The driver overcorrected multiple times prior to the truck overturning and sliding down a 75-foot embankment. The truck passed through a shallow creek and went partway up a second embankment before finally coming to rest.

Troopers said the 13-year-old was located alongside the road near the bridge and the 17-year-old was lying on the rocks at the edge of the creek bank.

The 17-year-old received transport to WakeMed in Raleigh with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The younger sibling was released from Johnston County Medical Center in Smithfield after undergoing treatment.

Troopers say the 17-year-old was not wearing his seat belt, but the 13-year-old was.
