Teen Struck By Vehicle In Harnett County
On August 21, a 16-year-old suffered personal injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Harnett County.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that 16-year-old Derek Joseph Brown was crossing N.C. Highway 87 in Cameron when a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old woman struck him.
Brown received transport from paramedics to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he underwent treatment for two broken legs and massive head trauma. As of the afternoon of August 22, he was listed in fair condition.
The driver received transport to Central Carolina Hospital as a precaution after complaining of minor neck pain.
Troopers say that speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors.
