Teen Killed, Seven Injured In Lincoln County Wreck

Authorities said that a 17-year-old girl suffered fatal personal injuries in a four-vehicle crash in Lincoln County on the afternoon of May 5.

Haley Campbell, who authorities said was a student at North Lincoln High School, died in the collision, which took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. on N.C. Highway 150 at Henry Dellinger Road.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic was eastbound on N.C. 150 and came upon traffic stopped at an intersection. The driver swerved left in an attempt to avoid hitting cars, but sideswiped another vehicle before going into the westbound lane, where it was struck on the passenger side, where Campbell was sitting, by a westbound truck.

According to Dion Burleson of the Denver Fire Department, a total of seven people were injured in the collision, two of which received hospital transport.
