SUV Careens In to Little Shallotte River
SUV Careens In to Little Shallotte River
Two Brunswick County residents had a cold night when their SUV careened into the Little Shallotte River.
According to a report by the N.C. Highway Patrol, the driver, Joseph Babson was parked facing the banks of the river.
His passenger Carolyn Whaley, was in the passenger seat.
Babson, thinking the vehicle was in reverse accelerated the gas pedal.
Babson and Whaley were able to escape by opening the doors and swimming to shore.
The Chevrolet Tahoe floated several feet down the river and stuck in the mud.
No charges were filed.
