Student Charged In Crash That Killed Zebulon Man
A Knightdale High School student has been charged with causing an accident on the morning of September 23 in which man from Zebulon suffered fatal personal injuries while returning home from work, according to authorities.
North Carolina state trooper said that 17-year-old Rolesville resident Tyler Daniel was on his way to school on Jonesville Road in a Ford Taurus around 7:30 a.m. He briefly stopped at the intersection with Mitchell Mill Road before pulling out into the path of an eastbound Chevrolet Blazer driven by 57-year-old Donald Johnson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash caused the SUV to overturn.
Daniel and an unidentified passenger, also a Knightdale student, received transport to WakeMed North for non-life-threatening injuries.
Trooper Ceon Cayco said that Daniel has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way. Cayco said he has no previous infractions on his record.
