Speed Causes Two East Wake Students to Be Injured

Speed Causes Two East Wake Students to Be Injured

Two East Wake high school students were injured in a high-speed crash Monday afternoon.

Austin Wade Marx, 17, driving a 1996 Camaro and his passenger Gavin Westover, 16, had left school to get an off-campus lunch.

Marx was traveling on Puryear Road in Knightdale at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the road and over-turned.

Neil Hunter was standing outside when the accident occurred in front of his home. According to Hunter, the first thing he heard was the engine of the vehicle.

Witnesses had reported the driver’s speed up to 90-miles-per-hour. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol investigating, the evidence supported those allegations.

Both victims were transported to Wake Medical Center for injuries received.

Both of the students were wearing seatbelts.
