Small Plane Crashes in Cumberland County

A pilot along with his three grandchildren received injuries when the small plane he was flying crashed into some woods in Cumberland County.

The plane went down shortly before 11 a.m. this morning in woods that surround a grass runway off Palestine Road near Linden.

The pilot was identified as Joe Guyton, 71. His three teenage grandchildren were passengers with him. One of the grandchildren complained of chest pains and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Grumman AA-5A Cheetah had taken off from the airstrip & was experiencing problems as it cleared the tree line.

Mr. Guyton and his grandchildren walked home to report the crash.
