Six Hospitalized For Exposure To Unknown Substance At Knightdale McDonald's
Six people went to hospitals on November 8 for the personal injuries they suffered due to exposure to an unknown material at a McDonald’s restaurant in Knightdale.
Shortly after 10 a.m. on the day of the incident, the McDonald’s located on Knightdale Blvd. was evacuated.
According to Wake County EMS district chief Jeffrey Hammerstein said that a total of 31 people, including customers and employees, underwent treatment by emergency medical personnel for complaints such as burning noses and eyes. Six people required hospitals for further evaluation.
The Raleigh Fire Department’s hazardous materials team responded to the call, alongside Knightdale police and firefighters and EMS personnel from Wake and Eastern Wake.
Hammerstein said the cause had not been discovered yet, but the incident remains under investigation.
