Six Elementary Students And Two Adults Injured When Truck Rear-Ends Charlotte School Bus

Six elementary school students and two adults suffered personal injuries on the morning of April 26 when a pick-up truck collided with the rear of a school bus in northern Charlotte.

The accident took place around 8:45 a.m. on Nevin Road at the intersection with Gibbon Road and involved school bus No. 1118 from John M. Morehead Elementary School, a car, and a pickup truck.

The six students received transport to Carolinas Medical Center, from which they were released after undergoing treatment. The bus’ driver and the pickup’s driver were also taken to the hospital.

A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said that the bus had stopped at a red light when it was rear-ended by the pickup truck. The bus was transporting 18 students at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car involved said that she was pulling out of the parking lot when she was struck by the truck. She was uninjured.
